Building a digital agency driven by storytelling requires more than reputation alone to grow and scale successfully.
From 2005-2013 I ran a small boutique digital marketing agency focused on delivering services that create and communicate well articulated stories across the multiple platforms. I grew the company from a sole proprietorship to an agency with a staff of 5 people with over $2M in combined revenue. We won numerous industry awards including ADDYs and Independent Creative Excellence Awards.
Our clients achieved results because we delivered strategic digital marketing programs based on the art of storytelling. We provided our customers a narrative that would respond to evolving audiences, emerging technologies and changing markets
In 2013, I left the agency in the hands of my husband, Steve Hebert. He has since pivoted the agency to a documentary film and photography company that specializes in producing authentic human stories. www.curiouspixel.com.
Biggest Learning:
Hope is not a sales strategy! I built an agency on reputation and work alone. This carried momentum through 8 productive and prosperous years. When I had my first child in 2010, I was no longer able to dedicate myself 24/7 to maintaining that momentum without a well thought out sales approach. When running your own business, never under estimate the value of partnering with some one who understands sales and can manage that side of your business for you.
